Purple Holly Hobbie Bag

I stitched a purple version of this Holly Hobbie and sent it to a quilter friend in Korea, to have it made into a bag. It's a very big size, 35X31 cm, and it looks like 3 bags in one. I haven't yet seen the finished bag in-person, as it was a special gift for my dearest friend, also in Korea. I hope she likes it. Special thanks Ttenzzand, best quilter I know. I used 898, 502, 209, 211, 700, 434, B5200, 208, 553, 604, 964, 754, 704, 726, 436, 3371, 433, 958, 210, 602, 3837, 3371, 801

Christmas Joy

Design is from a website freebie, but I stitched the J, O and Y separately and made them into pincushions. I attached long ribbons on the back of the pincushions and knotted them around the wreath to secure. I added some other ornaments, such as bells, poinsettia, drums, holly ivy, etc. It turned out great. This is a special gift for my reverend in my church.

I made two more wreaths for other reverends. I used the Christmas theme pincushions that I made last year and didn’t use, and were just sitting around. These were also from website freebies but I don’t know where. I hope they like these wreaths.

Two Cushions

I stitched this red Dresden Plade in Feb, 2008. Design is originally Blue & White, but I changed the colours to Red & White, and this version turned out great.

Original Blue & White version, done in Sep, 2004.

Second one is an initial "H", which was done in May, 2008. I have made these into cushions for my sister. Special thanks to Ttenzzang in korea.

Back Home

I'm still here, but it's been a rough time for me the past six months. I thought I would only be away for a couple of months. In March I went to Korea to have an operation for liver cancer. The operation took about 6 hours on April 6, and it was successful. My daughter came to Korea to take care of me for two weeks, during my main recovery time. I was in the Hospital for a month, and stayed at my youngest brother's house for rest of the time. For five months after surgery, on September 7, I came back to my home in Canada. I still feel a little pain from the surgery, and it's still hard to adjust to the 13 hours time difference, but I'm happy to be back with my family and my friends.
These two towels I completed just before I left Korea, for my youngest brother for thanks.

Ice Hotel

Last week I went to Quebec City to see the winter festival and Ice Hotel. It was a very neat experience. All of the cities and the places we visited were covered in white and it was beautiful, but the temperature was very cold.

15 side pincushions

I made some pincushions in different colours and shapes, such as blue, red and starfish shape. It was fun to make and a very lovely shape. I want to try to make them again someday. I just pick small designs (bird, rose…) from freebies here and there to fit in a little square. And I don’t remember where I picked them.

Quaker Pouch

I enjoyed stitching this lovely Quaker design from AMAP and made it into a pouch for cosmetics. I carry it in my purse all the time. I used DMC variegate floss. I tried to change the colours myself. I did one with some yellow and pink, but I didn’t quite like it, so I removed all the bright colours and changed them to blue tones. I love how it turned out.

Coffee break and Tea time

Designs are from Michaels, freebies one-time. I stitched these cute projects in 2001 for my kitchen.

Noel 6

updated on Dec 6

I saw a Christmas stocking ornament package, 12-pack, from a dollar store. They are cute, and look nice as a finishing touch. I stitched Noel with a small motif on vinal aida and attached them onto the ornaments. I’m going to pin them on a string to hang on a door or window, or on a frame…..several thoughts in my mind.

11th Wreath

I stitched "Joy", “NOEL”, "Love" and "Fa la la" on green aida and have made them into a wreath. Yes, it’s my 11th wreath, and I already gave it away. It’s very colourful and pretty.

Floating above Cappadocia in Turkey

Oct 18, I went to Turkey and Greece for 10 days with members of my church. It was my first time to visit Turkey and Greece. On the third day we went to Cappadocia. The Cappadocia area has deep cavities within the volcanic rocks, and underground cities. We went on one of the hot air-balloon flights, which last about an hour and a half, early in the morning to see the sunrise. I counted 40 balloons in my view, but another person on the other side counted 60 balloons. It’s a bit pricey but worth it to fly about 1000 meters high. It was a beautiful, unforgettable experience.

a Tisket, a Tasket

I stitched these four beautiful small squares (Garden Salad, Blueberry bucket, Vegetable stew, Fruit basket) in 2002 and left these with my web friend who does quilts. I left these with her when I visited Korea about three years ago, and I have not yet received the finished quilt project.
